The corporal of the Military Police, Elder Vilhena dos Santos, 37, died yesterday. He was attacked with an iron rod by a 44-year-old man during a police action that was trying to restrain him, in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Belém. The case occurred on the 13th. Cabo Elder had been hospitalized in serious condition since who suffered the aggression, with head trauma and a serious injury close to the eyes. Today, the hospital confirmed his death at 5:30 pm cardiac arrest. The victim was with other police officers Rotam (Tactical Ostensive Rounds), which was called by residents of the Tenoné neighborhood, asking for help to control a man who was "upset" and threatening the others with an iron rod. The policemen even fired 17 rubber shots, but the attacker continued to advance against them. The entire action was recorded by the residents. Corporal Elder appears in the images being cornered by the suspect. He runs on his back and falls to the ground and receives several blows with the iron rod on the head. The police responded with lethal shots and the assailant died on the spot. The Pará Military Police Command issued a note of condolence for the death of the PM.
